en.Wedoany.com Reported - Recently, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with Yu Boyang, Chairman of Guoyou Industrial Products Group Co., Ltd., a Chinese private foreign trade enterprise, to discuss the Kuryk multifunctional port project.
Located in the Mangystau Region, the project is planned to be invested and constructed by Guoyou Industrial Products Group. According to the plan, the port's throughput capacity will reach 15 million tons in the first year of operation, and it will build a multimodal transport hub integrating port and railway facilities, aiming to further improve the Caspian Sea port-rail intermodal system and enhance Kazakhstan's international logistics and transit transport capacity.
Tokayev stated that Kazakhstan is committed to building a globally competitive Eurasian transport hub and welcomes Chinese participation in port infrastructure construction. Yu Boyang introduced the project construction plan and shared his vision for the development of Caspian shipping. Both sides believe that once the port hub is completed, it will not only improve regional logistics efficiency but also create approximately 800 local jobs, foster local talent development, and facilitate the deployment of local goods and services, generating long-term social benefits for the local economy.
In recent years, Kazakhstan has continuously strengthened transport infrastructure construction, focusing on developing the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route and China-Europe logistics corridors, aiming to enhance its international transport competitiveness through port, railway, and road network development. During the visit, Tokayev also held talks with heads of several Chinese high-tech enterprises, and Kazakhstan and China signed over 70 commercial agreements with a total value exceeding 15 billion USD.
If the Kuryk multifunctional port project is successfully implemented, it will further strengthen the service capacity of the China-Kazakhstan logistics corridor and is expected to provide new infrastructure support for Trans-Caspian transport and regional economic and trade cooperation.
