Housing association believe housing, with assistance from northeast planning specialist Hedley Planning, has obtained two planning approvals from the Durham County Council Planning Committee. One project, located on Farnham Road in Newton Hall, has been approved for the construction of 22 mixed homes, including two-bedroom, three-bedroom, and four-bedroom properties, along with landscaping and new tree planting. Each property will feature two dedicated parking spaces, with an additional 11 visitor parking spaces planned on site.

The other approved project is situated on the former residential site at Sawmills Lane in Brandon, where 90 affordable homes are planned on this brownfield land. The site previously contained 121 properties, which were demolished in 2022. The development will offer a mix of houses and bungalows, alongside new roads and landscaping.

Alex Franklin, Associate Director at Hedley Planning, stated that there is a long-term shortage of affordable housing in the northeast, and these developments will provide homes that meet local needs. believe housing's plans aim to address the needs of the local community, offering a variety of property types and sizes to provide much-needed assistance for those struggling to buy their first home or looking to move up the housing ladder.
