The letter of intent (LOI), announced at the Farnborough Airshow, establishes a framework for subsequent financing steps.

JetZero broke ground in June on a 600-acre, 8 million square-foot manufacturing campus in Greensboro, North Carolina. The company's blended wing body demonstrator is currently being assembled at Scaled Composites, a subsidiary of Northrop Grumman, in Mojave, California, with a first flight planned for the fourth quarter of 2027.

EXIM Chairman and CEO John Jovanovic stated that the LOI falls under the "Make More in America" (MMIA) initiative, which aims to help companies like JetZero achieve manufacturing and scaled production in the United States, particularly in their first facility setup. The program provides a credit guarantee framework to attract more private sector lenders and capital participants. Project costs eligible for MMIA financing may include the construction of manufacturing facilities, production systems, and equipment. Leadership indicated that this potential support remains subject to necessary reviews and approval by the EXIM Board of Directors.

JetZero stated that the LOI is a significant step forward. The company plans to apply for type certification this year and aims to enter commercial production by the end of 2030. CEO Tom O’Leary noted that there is substantial market demand in the mid-range segment between narrowbody and widebody aircraft, and this aircraft fills that gap perfectly. Building a factory of this scale is primarily constrained by funding, and EXIM's support enables the company to start and operate the plant, delivering certified and market-ready aircraft. He emphasized that this is crucial for the company's development.
