Japan's Crude Steel Output in June 2026 at 6.8 Million Tons, Down 2.1% Month-on-Month

en.Wedoany.com Reported - According to data released by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation, Japan's crude steel output in June 2026 stood at 6.8 million tons, down 2.1% month-on-month, but up 1.3% compared to the same period in 2025.

During the same period, Japan's pig iron output was 4.9 million tons, down 2.8% month-on-month and up 3.1% year-on-year.

Looking at cumulative data for the first half of the year, from January to June 2026, Japan's total crude steel output was 40.4 million tons, down 0.4% year-on-year; total pig iron output was 29.16 million tons, also down 0.4%.

In terms of major steel products, in June 2026, hot-rolled H-beam output was 356,300 tons, down slightly by 0.6% month-on-month and up 0.3% year-on-year; bar output was 570,100 tons, down 6% month-on-month and 7.8% year-on-year; wire rod output was 94,700 tons, down 4.8% month-on-month and 8.4% year-on-year; heavy plate output was 658,700 tons, down 7.8% month-on-month and up 10.1% year-on-year; hot-rolled wide strip output was 2.6869 million tons, down 11.3% month-on-month and 5.6% year-on-year; cold-rolled wide strip output was 1.0729 million tons, down 10.3% month-on-month and 8.4% year-on-year; galvanized sheet output was 702,400 tons, up 4.3% month-on-month and 1.9% year-on-year; welded pipe output was 243,000 tons, up 11.9% month-on-month and 4.7% year-on-year.
