These two projects are part of TC Energy's extensive NGTL system, which is responsible for transporting natural gas across Alberta and British Columbia.
The Valhalla North project is a 33-kilometer natural gas pipeline located northwest of Grande Prairie, while the Berland River project is a 30-megawatt electric compressor station northwest of Edson. Together, the two projects increase the daily transportation capacity of the NGTL system by 400 million cubic feet. During construction, local Indigenous businesses secured contracts worth over C$24 million, with a peak workforce of 775 workers.
TC Energy stated that the commissioning of these two natural gas pipeline projects will further enhance the transportation capacity of the NGTL system, meeting the growing natural gas transportation demand in Alberta and British Columbia. The NGTL system is a key natural gas transportation network in western Canada, connecting gas fields with downstream consumer markets.
