Construction Accelerates! CEEC Overseas Projects Continue to Hit Milestones

en.Wedoany.com Reported - China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC) has achieved key breakthroughs in multiple overseas projects, covering hydropower stations, offshore wind power, photovoltaic storage, and waste-to-energy, with projects located in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Vietnam, Pakistan, Namibia, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Eritrea, and Thailand.

In the DRC, the Nzilo II Hydropower Station, undertaken by CEEC Gezhouba No.1 Company, successfully achieved river closure on July 15, marking the project's entry into the main construction phase. Located on the main stream of the Lualaba River in Lualaba Province, the station has a total installed capacity of 200 MW and a regulating storage capacity of 202 million cubic meters. It is one of the largest hydropower projects under construction in southeastern DRC and is expected to alleviate the power supply shortage in local mining areas upon completion.

In Vietnam, the Vinh Long V1-3, V1-5&6 Phase II Offshore Wind Power Project, contracted by CEEC Guangdong Electric Power Design Institute, completed the foundation construction for the first wind turbine on July 11. Located offshore in Vinh Long Province, the project has a total installed capacity of 128 MW and uses Chinese-made wind turbines with a single-unit capacity of 8 MW. It is the largest offshore wind power project in Vietnam and Southeast Asia in terms of single-unit capacity, single-pile diameter, and weight. Once operational, it is expected to generate 400 million kWh of electricity annually, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 311,000 tons.

In Pakistan, the Mohmand Hydropower Station project has recently achieved several key milestones. On July 8, the excavation and support of the second layer of the main bifurcation tunnel in the powerhouse were completed. On July 10, the first concrete pour for the gate chamber's top arch was carried out, marking the start of main construction for the gate chamber. Undertaken by CEEC Gezhouba No.3 Company, the project has an installed capacity of 800 MW and offers comprehensive functions including power generation, flood control, irrigation, and water supply. Upon completion, it will generate an average of 2.862 billion kWh annually, add 16,700 hectares of irrigated land, and provide 140 million cubic meters of drinking water to local residents each year.

In Namibia, the Twin Hills Gold Mine Mining Service Project, undertaken by CEEC Explo Namibia Mining Services Company, completed its first blasting operation on July 10. The blast involved 255 blast holes with a total explosive charge of 35 tons. Located in the Karibib region of central Namibia, the project covers integrated mining operations including the supply of civil explosives, drilling and blasting, excavation and loading, haulage, ore rehandling and control, slope cleaning and drainage, and crusher feeding during the pre-stripping and full production phases.

In Indonesia, the headrace tunnels of the Upper Cisokan Pumped Storage Power Station, undertaken by CEEC Gezhouba Three Gorges Construction Company, were fully connected on July 11. Located in the upper reaches of the Cisokan River on Java Island, the station has a total installed capacity of 1,040 MW, comprising four 260 MW generating units, making it the largest pumped storage power station in Indonesia. The two headrace tunnels, approximately 1,193 meters and 1,133 meters long respectively, connect the upper reservoir to the surge shaft. Once operational, the station will supply 1,479 GWh of clean electricity annually to the Java-Bali power grid.

In Saudi Arabia, the Rumah 2 Combined Cycle Power Plant project, undertaken by CEEC Tianjin Electric Power Construction Company, completed the hoisting and positioning of Gas Turbine No. 1 on June 30. Located in the Rumah area of Riyadh Province, the project uses combined cycle technology. The net weight of Gas Turbine No. 1 is approximately 237.2 tons, making it one of the world's most advanced H/HL-class heavy-duty gas turbines. Upon completion, the project will help improve the power structure and enhance the grid's peak-shaving capacity.

In Eritrea, the Dekemhare 30 MW Photovoltaic Storage Project, undertaken by CEEC Shanxi Electric Power Construction Company, completed its operation transfer on June 15. Located in the town of Dekemhare, south of the capital Asmara, it is the largest photovoltaic power station currently installed in the country and a landmark project in China-Eritrea cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, deepening practical collaboration in the energy sector. The project includes a 30 MW photovoltaic power station and a 15 MW/30 MWh energy storage system, expected to generate 73.89 million kWh of electricity annually after commissioning.

In Thailand, the Gulf Waste-to-Energy Project, contracted by CEEC Shanxi Electric Power Design Institute, completed the first hoisting of boiler steel structures at the GSE site in Saraburi Province on June 22 and the MKP site in Rayong Province on June 28, officially commencing boiler installation. As of June 28, six of the project's 12 units had completed their first steel structure hoisting. The project consists of 12 waste-to-energy plants, each with a capacity of 9.9 MW, and three industrial solid waste treatment stations, contributing to waste reduction, harmlessness, and resource utilization.
