en.Wedoany.com Reported - At the Farnborough International Airshow, Vietnam's national carrier, Vietnam Airlines, signed agreements with three aircraft leasing companies to introduce 19 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft through leasing.

This year's Farnborough Airshow, held from July 20 to 21, is one of the world's largest aerospace events, with an exhibition area exceeding 50,000 square meters and attracting over 1,600 exhibitors globally. Representatives from the three leasing companies involved in the negotiations expressed optimism about the prospects of Vietnam's aviation market. Barry Flannery, Commercial Director of SMBC Aviation Capital, noted that Vietnam is on track to become one of the fastest-growing aviation markets in the Asia-Pacific region over the next two decades, driven by a young and increasingly affluent population, as well as government investments in airports, hotels, and tourism service systems. Paul Geaney, Chairman and Commercial Director of Avolon, stated that the Asia-Pacific region is the busiest and fastest-growing aviation region globally, and among the top ten aviation markets in the region, Vietnam has been the fastest-growing country over the past decade, with a growth rate of 121%, described as "remarkable." Matthew Adamo, Co-Founder of AIP Capital, believed that with Vietnam's strong economic growth and a population exceeding 100 million, investing in the country's aviation sector is "highly attractive." He further pointed out that air transport will inevitably be part of the growth story, and foreign investors "can find many attractive opportunities" in this field.

Against the backdrop of a tight global aircraft supply and extended manufacturer delivery cycles, leasing aircraft from major leasing companies has become a solution for airlines to supplement operational capacity early, aside from long-term purchase contracts. Under the agreements, Vietnam Airlines will receive 10 aircraft from SMBC Aviation Capital, 4 from Avolon Aerospace Leasing Limited, and 5 from Phoenix Aviation Capital, managed by AIP Capital. The new agreements bring Vietnam Airlines' total number of Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft to 69, including the previous purchase order of 50 and the current lease of 19.
