The project, led by Intelligent Globe Construction Group, headquartered in Egypt and the UAE, is expected to take about 30 months to complete. Once operational, the transmission line will enhance the capacity of Egypt's national grid, supporting the integration of electricity from solar and wind projects along the Gulf of Suez coast. The expansion of the transmission line plays a significant role in advancing Egypt's renewable energy strategy.

This investment aligns with Egypt's long-term deployment plan to expand its transmission grid and substation network. Over the past decade, Cairo has invested a cumulative total of approximately 965 billion Egyptian pounds in power generation, transmission, and distribution infrastructure. The Egyptian government has set a target to increase the share of renewable energy in the electricity mix to 45% by 2028. The new transmission line will help address transmission bottlenecks between renewable energy-rich areas and major urban load centers, improving grid operational flexibility.

The implementation of this project will also drive the development of local transmission equipment manufacturing and related engineering construction industries. As more wind and photovoltaic projects in the Gulf of Suez region come online, this transmission line will become a key corridor for the eastern grid. Intelligent Globe Construction Group stated that the project will be carried out using a model combining local construction teams with international technical standards. Analysts point out that such cross-border investment-backed transmission line projects reflect the sustained interest of Middle Eastern capital in Egypt's energy infrastructure sector.
