en.Wedoany.com Reported - LONGi Solar and Germany's RWE have signed an agreement in Italy to deploy a utility-scale photovoltaic and battery energy storage system project with a storage capacity of approximately 300 megawatt-hours. The project adopts a 4-hour storage configuration, designed to meet the peak shaving and ancillary service needs of Italy's national grid.

LONGi will supply its flagship storage product, the "LONGi Bank 2.0 6.25 MWh," for the project. This product features a liquid-cooled lithium iron phosphate (LFP) system design, with an energy density of 146 Wh/L, encapsulating 6,251 kWh of capacity within a standard 20-foot container. The system employs a multi-level fuse electrical design and is equipped with AI-driven thermal runaway prediction for active fire prevention. An AI-controlled temperature management system and integrated high-precision health diagnostics are used to extend system lifespan and simplify operation and maintenance, thereby reducing the levelized cost of storage.

As Italy advances its goals under the National Integrated Energy and Climate Plan, energy storage is regarded as critical infrastructure. Zhang Lin, President of LONGi Europe, stated that this project demonstrates how integrated solar-plus-storage can serve as the foundation for future power grids. He noted that the European market is shifting toward an ecosystem centered on partnerships, and LONGi's "LONGi ONE" solution, which combines photovoltaic and storage technologies, responds to the market's demand for highly integrated clean energy assets.

The "LONGi ONE" strategy aims to address the responsibility gaps in traditional solar-plus-storage projects involving multiple suppliers. The strategy includes: a fully self-developed, natively integrated photovoltaic and storage system with a round-trip efficiency of 93%, four percentage points higher than independent, fragmented configurations; an AI-driven intelligent collaboration software control layer, equipped with a patented smart battery connection system capable of predicting risks three to six months in advance; and a comprehensive turnkey solution and integrated O&M service model, with LONGi serving as the single point of contact throughout the asset's entire lifecycle.

To support this commitment, LONGi is implementing the "2815 Plan," aiming to establish 15 local service centers of excellence in key European markets by the end of 2028, providing localized engineering, commissioning, and spare parts support.

She Ming, Vice President of LONGi, pointed out that historically, customers had to piece together components from different suppliers. In contrast, "LONGi ONE" optimizes system performance and overall economics by coordinating the photovoltaic generator, storage system, and power conversion system from the outset, and provides a single, financially stable supplier for the project, ensuring reliable operation over a period of 20 years or more.
