en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Zamboanga City Special Economic Zone Authority and the Freeport (ZAMBOECOZONE) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on July 21, 2026, with Zamboanga JKS Coconut Products Manufacturing to expand the company's operations within the economic zone.

Under the agreement, the company will lease multiple storage facilities within the economic zone for operations and the expansion of its processing facilities. Owned and operated by sole proprietor Joy Oporto Kang, the company specializes in the processing and manufacturing of high-value coconut products, including charcoal and various by-products, contributing to the local agricultural value chain.
ZAMBOECOZONE Chairman and Administrator Raul Regondola stated that this lease agreement is a testament to the investment environment fostered by the economic zone, where local enterprises can thrive within the freeport while supporting sustainable regional development. He also noted that JKS Coconut Products, beyond its economic contributions, has proven to be a valuable partner for both the institution and the community through its willingness to step up during emergencies.
Shortly before the contract signing, JKS Coconut Products collaborated with the Zamboanga Freeport Authority on a humanitarian initiative. On July 6, 2026, the two organizations jointly delivered 200 bags of rice to Sarangani Province to assist families affected by the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that occurred on June 8, with relief efforts channeled through the Philippine Coconut Authority's Sarangani branch.
