(CATL) has recently entered the environmental impact assessment approval stage for the Yajiang Sinowin lithium mine project, obtained through restructuring, marking a critical milestone before production. The Ganzi Prefecture Bureau of Ecology and Environment has accepted and publicly disclosed the project's environmental impact assessment documents, signaling significant progress for the lithium mine project, which had a restructuring consideration exceeding 6.4 billion yuan and had drawn substantial market attention.
According to the environmental assessment documents, the Sinowin project will achieve an annual mining capacity of 1.5 million tons upon completion. Currently, Yajiang County Sinowin Mining Development Co., Ltd. has signed agreements with a contract processing plant, with the processing site located in Meishan. The construction of a tailings pond in the Jiajika mining area has become a key bottleneck hindering project implementation.
To address the tailings pond issue, Sinowin Mining has reached a cooperation agreement with Tianqi Shenghe, a subsidiary of Tianqi Lithium, and Tianfu Lithium, a subsidiary of Sichuan Natural Resources Investment Group. The three parties plan to jointly invest in and construct the "Jiajika No. 1 Tailings Pond," which is expected to be fully completed by 2028. However, a source familiar with Sinowin Mining indicated that even under favorable conditions, the earliest actual production of the project would not occur until 2029.
