Construction Scale and Content:

The production process of this project will be changed from natural gas-based synthetic ammonia and urea to coal-based synthetic ammonia and urea, with biomass and green hydrogen as supplements, without increasing production capacity or land use. (I) Equipment to be eliminated and replaced: Eliminate the gas-based synthetic ammonia unit (including zinc oxide desulfurization tower, primary and secondary reformers, high and low temperature shift converters, hot potassium carbonate decarbonization unit, absorption tower, regeneration tower, ammonia synthesis tower and other old equipment, as well as pumps, heat exchangers and related auxiliary equipment).

Replace with biomass, green hydrogen, and coal-based synthetic ammonia units, adopting the domestically advanced 6.5MPa Aerospace Pulverized Coal Gasification Technology. Construct core process units such as air separation, coal gasification, purification (including CO shift, acid gas removal, and gas refining), synthetic ammonia (including syngas compression, ammonia synthesis, and refrigeration), and sulfur recovery, along with digital and intelligent related equipment and facilities. (II) Upgrade and transformation: Retrofit and reuse the existing urea unit, including converting the CO₂compressor to a centrifugal electric-driven compressor, adopting an improved CO₂ stripping process, adding new de-hydrogenation heat exchangers and preheaters, changing the high-pressure ammonia pump and high-pressure carbamate pump from steam-driven to electric-driven, and adding two new medium-pressure carbamate pumps.

Inner Mongolia Ordos United Chemical Co., Ltd. is a large chemical enterprise located in Ordos City, primarily producing synthetic ammonia and urea. It is controlled by Hubei Yihua and uses natural gas as raw material. Its core products are synthetic ammonia and urea, with an annual production capacity of 600,000 tons of synthetic ammonia and 1.04 million tons of urea. The company introduced synthetic ammonia units from Namhae Chemical Corporation of South Korea and urea technology from Stamicarbon of the Netherlands. In May 2006, the first phase of the Inner Mongolia United Chemical urea project commenced construction, and in November 2008, it achieved a one-time successful startup, setting a precedent for large-scale fertilizer plant winter operation.
