en.Wedoany.com Reported - Hudbay Perú S.A.C.'s Constancia mine has received approval from Peru's National Environmental Certification Authority (Senace) to implement optimization adjustments to its open-pit mine and processing plant, extending the mine's operational lifespan.

The Constancia mine is located in the Chamaca, Velille, and Livitaca areas of the Chumbivilcas Province in the Cusco Region. The company stated that optimization of the Constancia open-pit mine is required, leading to an updated mining plan, modifications to the processing plant and auxiliary facilities, and adjustments to the operating schedule. The adjustment plan has been approved by Senace.

Regarding the open-pit mine, the company plans to extract a larger volume of material to optimize ore reserve utilization, without expanding the previously approved open-pit area. The optimization is limited to volume adjustments and internal design changes, with no alteration to the approved maximum depth. This depth remains at 580 meters (down to an elevation of 3,930 meters), while maintaining the approved area of 239.64 hectares unchanged.

Through these adjustments, the mining plan for the Constancia mine has been updated, extending the mine's life by one year to 2031.
