en.Wedoany.com Reported - Svitzer Caribbean Dominicana has added the tug "Svitzer Manzanillo" to its fleet to support LNG transshipment operations on the island.

The "Svitzer Manzanillo" is currently the most powerful harbor tug operating in the Dominican Republic and one of the most technologically advanced vessels in the region.

With a bollard pull of 86 tons, this tug is the most capable vessel in the entire Svitzer Caribbean Cluster fleet; Svitzer operates across four locations and seven ports in this cluster.

Felipe Quintana, General Manager of Svitzer Caribbean Dominicana, stated: "This tug will be used to serve LNG customers and ensure availability for special operations in the Caribbean region."

"This new vessel reflects our continued confidence in the growth of the Dominican maritime sector, as well as our commitment to delivering world-class safety, operational excellence, and service reliability," Quintana said.

"Svitzer Manzanillo will significantly enhance our capabilities to support our customers' growing demands and the evolving needs of the Dominican market, ensuring we are always ready to serve the next generation of maritime trade and port operations... We are preparing for a growing country, upgraded ports, and an increasing number of customers demanding greater capacity, safety, and efficiency," he added.

As part of Svitzer's ongoing investment program in new assets and fleet renewal, the company will build three new tugs to expand its fleet in the Caribbean region. The first of these, a 70-ton bollard pull tug with FiFi 1 firefighting capability and LNG-ready operations, is expected to be delivered in early 2027.

Svitzer serves approximately 2,000 customers across 157 ports and 46 terminals in 38 countries with a fleet of 510 vessels.
