en.Wedoany.com Reported - VSB Deutschland's expansion project at the Vockenrod wind farm in Hesse, Germany, was completed on schedule, with the second new turbine now in operation. The wind farm now operates a total of five turbines, with a combined installed capacity of 28.5 megawatts.

This expansion added two new Nordex N149-5.X wind turbines, totaling 11.4 megawatts of capacity. The three turbines of the same model from the first phase (totaling 17.1 megawatts) were all commissioned in spring 2024. After foundation work was completed in 2024, the two new turbines were erected the following year and connected to the grid in the first half of 2026. The rotor blades were transported to the construction site at night using a self-propelled blade lifting machine from a transshipment point at the Alsfeld-Ost highway interchange.

VSB estimates that the expanded wind farm will generate approximately 63.1 million kilowatt-hours of net electricity annually, enough to meet the electricity needs of around 19,700 households, and is expected to reduce approximately 47,300 tons of CO2 emissions each year. Thomas Winkler, Managing Director of VSB Deutschland, stated that the completion of this project demonstrates the company's ability to reliably deliver challenging wind power projects and create regional value that benefits communities in the long term.

VSB, headquartered in Dresden, has been a subsidiary of TotalEnergies since 2025. The company operates in six European countries, developing onshore wind, solar power plants, and battery storage projects, with a current project pipeline exceeding 20 gigawatts.
