en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Department of Telecom (DoT) has issued a notice to Vodafone Idea demanding payment of Rs 26.83 crore as a penalty for the company's alleged failure to meet the minimum deployment obligations for spectrum allocated in the 2022 spectrum auction. The telecom operator made this announcement public on Saturday.

In a filing with the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), Vodafone Idea stated that the notice, received on Friday (July 31), demands payment of "a penalty of Rs 26.83 crore for the alleged non-compliance with the minimum deployment obligations for spectrum allocated in the 2022 spectrum auction." This violation pertains to the network deployment obligations stipulated in the Notice Inviting Applications (NIA) 2022, i.e., the bid document, which must be adhered to once spectrum is allocated.
The company stated that it is reviewing the notice and evaluating next steps. Vodafone Idea also noted that the notice will not have any financial or other impact on its operations.
