en.Wedoany.com Reported - Australian exploration company Nelson Resources (ASX:NES) has announced results from reconnaissance sampling at the Cinnamon prospect in Nevada, USA, with rock chip samples showing high-grade copper and gold. At the newly identified Sheba target, gold grades reach up to 1.95 g/t, silver grades up to 40.30 g/t, accompanied by base metals, including lead grades of 6.63%.
The Sheba target is located in the footwall of the Luning-Fencemaker thrust fault, coinciding with potassic and magnetic anomalies. The results indicate that the prospect hosts a larger intrusion-related hydrothermal system with local epithermal characteristics. Sampling of veinlets and faults cutting volcanic breccia shows elevated levels of pathfinder elements such as arsenic, antimony, mercury, and cadmium, with an element assemblage consistent with a shallow to distal epithermal environment.
Non-Executive Chairman Gernot Abl stated that the copper-gold discovery was made shortly after acquiring the prospect. He noted that the high-grade gold, silver, and copper-lead-zinc results returned from Sheba rock chip samples indicate typical epithermal mineralization characteristics in the footwall of the regional main thrust fault.
The Cinnamon prospect comprises 186 lode claims administered by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM), located immediately west of Guardian Metal Resources' (LON:GMET) Pilot Mountain tungsten project. Nelson has integrated high-resolution airborne magnetic, radiometric geophysical, and hyperspectral mapping data to delineate this hydrothermal system.
Five priority targets have been identified at the prospect. At the adjacent Ophir target, extensive iron oxide hyperspectral footprints are flanked by strong epidote-chlorite alteration, with limestone as the host rock. Reconnaissance mapping has verified this alteration and identified a previously unmapped quartz monzonite intrusion.
The exploration model targets intrusion-related tungsten skarn mineralization in the Luning Formation limestone, which is adjacent to a quartz monzonite stock, with geological settings similar to the neighboring Pilot Mountain project. Nelson plans to conduct detailed exploration, geological mapping, and systematic rock chip sampling at the Sheba copper-gold target and the Ophir tungsten target, as well as structural mapping and trace element geochemical sampling at the remaining targets to locate deeper potential mineralization.
