en.Wedoany.com Reported - Northern Light Composites (nlcomp) has officially inaugurated rFactory, its first production plant located in the industrial area of Monfalcone, Italy. Built along the Lisert navigable canal, the facility boasts over 4,000 square meters of indoor and outdoor space and has already launched several projects since becoming operational.

For the company, founded as a startup in 2019 and now part of the Samer Group, with shareholders including Samer & Co. Shipping S.p.A., CDP Venture (through Cleantech Accelerator), Tasci Srl, and Ocean S.p.A., this plant represents a strategic step in its growth and development.

Fabio Bignolini, CEO of nlcomp, speaking on behalf of founding partners Piernicola Paoletti, Andrea Paduano, and Alessandro Stagni, stated that the construction of the plant aligns with the company's vision and is a key step in launching its industrialization process. He thanked the Samer Group, shareholders, the local community, and project participants for their support, and expressed anticipation for future challenges, particularly in recruiting skilled professionals to meet market demand.

The plant focuses on producing sustainable composites. Currently, outfitting work is underway on the Offshore 34. Designed by Gianluca Guelfi and Fabio D'Angeli, the Offshore 34 is a sailing yacht sold under the Northern Light brand, built entirely using nlcomp's sustainable composite technology, with its official launch scheduled for October 2026.

Bignolini noted that rFactory is not a space to be filled but a highly active facility. The company is advancing multiple projects across different markets and pursuing continuous R&D, and this plant will enhance operational efficiency and reduce time to market.

Following the Offshore 34, the plant will begin production of the first two units of a new 30-foot boat, which has already been sold. Developed with support from Studio Cossutti Ganz and designed for ocean sailing, this boat marks a technological evolution combining wood and composites.

Projects in other sectors are also based at rFactory. In the coming weeks, production will begin on rComposite sails for the maritime wind-assisted propulsion sector, developed in collaboration with two other regional companies, aiming to promote technologies that reduce fuel consumption and emissions from vessels. Meanwhile, production of components for electric outboard motors, in partnership with an international company, has also been launched.

nlcomp also announced its participation in an international program operated by Amazon. As one of the selected companies, nlcomp will develop sustainable components for the sports sector, starting with surfboards, windsurf wings, and stand-up paddleboards, as well as accessories for skiing and cycling.
