The work pertains to the Sitamarhi-Raxaul doubling project within the Samastipur division, spanning 41.04 kilometers, from Kundawa Chainpur (exclusive) to Raxaul (exclusive). The scope of work includes earthwork, blanketing, minor and major bridges, stations and other buildings, platform construction, level crossing works, and various civil engineering structures designed for a standard loading of 25 tonnes as per Indian Railways standards. The project will be executed under standard conditions of contract.

East Central Railway, as the domestic client, has awarded the contract to RVNL. The company confirmed that the promoters and promoter group companies have no interest in the client, and the contract does not constitute a related party transaction. The project execution period is 1,095 days.

The work falls within RVNL's normal business scope and will involve design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning, as applicable. The company stated that these infrastructure interventions are aimed at enhancing line capacity and operational resilience, supporting regional connectivity and freight movement, and driving corridor capacity upgrades, improved traction, and freight handling capabilities.

Earlier this year, RVNL was the lowest bidder for a project worth Rs 1,294.6 million from North Eastern Railway. On the market front, shares of Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd closed at Rs 221.25 on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), down Rs 2.75, or 1.23%.
