en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Belo Horizonte City Hall (Prefeitura de Belo Horizonte) has launched the public panel of the Belo Horizonte Air Quality Monitoring Program (ProAr-BH), allowing residents, researchers, and public managers to freely access real-time data on atmospheric pollutant concentrations, temperature, and relative humidity.

The monitoring stations are distributed across different areas of the city to collect information. In the first phase, five devices are in operation, located in the Barreiro, Centro-Sul, Noroeste, Venda Nova, and Nordeste administrative regions. The platform will be continuously updated, enabling citizens to track environmental conditions at different locations across the city and identify trends in air quality over time.
The panel aggregates concentration data for inhalable particulate matter PM2.5 and PM10, which consist of suspended dust and smoke particles that can affect the respiratory system. The monitoring program also includes gases related to atmospheric pollution, such as sulfur dioxide (SO₂), nitrogen dioxide (NO₂), carbon monoxide (CO), and ozone (O₃). In addition to pollutants, the platform also displays climate indicators such as temperature and relative humidity.
Making data available on a public panel aims to expand access to environmental information and promote evidence-based public policy development. This information can support actions in areas such as environment, health, urban planning, environmental education, and risk prevention, serving public health protection and sustainable urban development.
ProAr-BH is part of the Air View+ project, developed by Google, implemented by the Local Governments for Sustainability (ICLEI), in partnership with the climate technology company Aurassure. The initiative also involves the participation of the Municipal Environment Secretariat, the Health Secretariat, and the Civil Defense of Belo Horizonte (Defesa Civil de Belo Horizonte).
The ProAr-BH panel is freely accessible on the Belo Horizonte City Hall portal, allowing citizens to check real-time air quality conditions in the capital city at any time.
