en.Wedoany.com Reported - UK housing provider Orbit has launched a procurement programme worth approximately £1.6 billion, inviting expressions of interest through a contract notice for two related projects covering property investment, building safety, and compliance services.

Orbit manages 47,000 homes across the Midlands, East, and South of England. The organisation said the procurement marks a shift towards longer-term partnerships in its supplier engagement model. Chief Property and Regeneration Officer Scott Rutherford stated that Orbit is seeking partners with ambition, a desire to build genuine long-term relationships, and a shared focus on quality and customer experience. He noted that through long-term collaboration, suppliers can invest more confidently in their workforce, skills, and supply chains, delivering better outcomes for residents and communities. Orbit welcomes participation from organisations across the social housing sector and beyond, particularly suppliers with expertise in domestic safety and building remediation.

The larger of the two projects is valued at £1.4 billion with a 15-year contract term, appointing a small number of regional partners to deliver refurbishment improvements, building safety remediation, major works, and energy efficiency upgrades. The programme is divided into five regional lots: Stratford and South Midlands, Central East Midlands, East Anglia, Erith and North Kent, and the South Coast.

The second project, valued between £150 million and £200 million with a 10-year contract term, will commission specialist compliance companies to provide domestic safety services covering fire, asbestos, electrical, water systems, and lifts and lifting equipment. This project is divided into three regional lots, covering all of Orbit's homes across the Midlands, East, and South of England.

Interested organisations must register their interest and complete the questionnaire by early September. Orbit will then shortlist and invite bidders to tender, with the process expected to conclude next year and contracts commencing in April 2028.
