en.Wedoany.com Reported - According to the latest official data from Perupetro, the Peruvian state oil company, the Sociedad Peruana de Hidrocarburos (SPH) reported that Peru's average daily oil production in July 2026 stood at 36.93 thousand barrels per day (MBPD), a slight increase compared to the previous month but a 23% decline year-on-year from July 2025. During the same period, average daily natural gas production rose to 1,554 million cubic feet per day (MMPCD), up 9.6% year-on-year.

Leading oil blocks in terms of output that month included: Block 95 in Loreto with a daily output of 10.658 thousand barrels, Block X in Piura with 8.233 thousand barrels per day, and Block Z-69 with 2.954 thousand barrels per day. Blocks with no recorded output that month included Block 67, Block XV, Block XX, and Block Z-6, among others.

In natural gas, average daily production in July 2026 rose to 1,554 MMPCD from 1,551 MMPCD in June. The blocks with the largest output increases included: Block 88 in Cusco with a daily output of 979 MMPCD, Block 56 with 302 MMPCD per day, and Block 57 with 199 MMPCD per day.

SPH noted that while oil production saw a slight month-on-month recovery, the 23% year-on-year decline indicates that Peru continues to face a persistent reduction in output. This trend once again underscores the need to restart exploration and develop new projects. In SPH's view, establishing a predictable regulatory framework, improving the efficiency of permit approvals, and creating conditions favorable to private investment are prerequisites for increasing reserves, ensuring energy security, and reducing the growing dependence on oil and gas imports.
