en.Wedoany.com Reported - Recently, China Classification Society (CCS) Shanghai Branch awarded China Shipbuilding Group's Shanghai Marine Diesel Engine Research Institute (SMDERI) the type approval certificate for China's first full-scene high-pressure direct-injection methanol single-fuel marine medium-speed engine, as well as the China Phase II emission approval certificate for marine engines.

The issuance of the two certificates marks that China's independently developed high-end methanol marine power equipment has passed international and domestic full-scene multi-purpose compliance verification, significantly accelerating the marketization and real-ship application process of this type of equipment, and effectively promoting the high-end upgrading of China's marine green power industry. Wang Feng, Director of SMDERI, Qiu Aihua, Deputy Director, Yang Zheng, General Manager of CCS Shanghai Branch, Pan Zhongbing, Deputy General Manager, along with heads of relevant departments and technical experts from both sides attended the certificate awarding ceremony and conducted work exchanges on topics such as green marine power technology innovation, product inspection and certification, and collaborative development of the industrial chain.

Wang Feng expressed gratitude to CCS for its long-term professional technical support. He noted that the two sides have carried out in-depth collaboration over the years in fields such as green engines, ship energy efficiency equipment, and carbon capture systems, producing multiple landmark achievements in the industry. Going forward, SMDERI will continue to focus on tackling core technologies in low-carbon power, and, leveraging CCS's authoritative certification platform, accelerate the industrialization of methanol single-fuel and ammonia-fuel power equipment, working hand in hand to promote the green and intelligent transformation of the shipping industry.
Yang Zheng congratulated SMDERI on its breakthrough progress in the independent R&D of low-carbon marine engines, introduced CCS Shanghai Branch's service system and technical strengths in classification survey, green equipment certification, and cutting-edge technology R&D, and stated that CCS will continue to leverage its full-chain technical capabilities in rule development and product approval, establish a normalized coordination mechanism with SMDERI, jointly tackle key technical bottlenecks in alternative fuel power and LNG-related products, and jointly open up a complete pathway for the R&D, certification, and real-ship application of green equipment.

As the next step, CCS Shanghai Branch will take this cooperation and exchange as a new starting point, continue to deepen all-round cooperation with SMDERI in the fields of green, low-carbon, and intelligent shipping, and, leveraging its advantages in technical standards and inspection and certification, help more domestically produced new-energy marine equipment obtain compliance approval, contributing to the shipping industry's goal of achieving carbon peak and carbon neutrality.
