("Jiteng Electric"), recently signed a contract with Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries (ZPMC) and Hutchison Ports OICT Terminal in Oman to undertake the RTG oil-to-electric conversion system project. The project scope includes the conversion of 11 RTGs from oil to electric power, the deployment of battery peak-shaving systems on 12 new RTGs, and upgrades to related supporting facilities.
The OICT Terminal is located at Sohar Port in Oman and is jointly operated by Hutchison Ports and Asyad, Oman's sovereign wealth fund. It represents Hutchison Ports' largest container business investment project in Oman. The terminal connects trade routes across the Persian Gulf, the Indian subcontinent, and East Africa, and leverages Sohar Port and the Free Zone—a comprehensive industrial and logistics hub—to play a key role in Oman's "Vision 2040" strategy for logistics centralization and economic diversification. As the terminal's business scale continues to expand, OICT has raised higher requirements for equipment operational stability, operational efficiency, and energy conservation and environmental protection.
The battery peak-shaving systems deployed in this project feature core components utilizing Veichi Electric's AC800 multi-drive series DC/DC, AFE, and CVCF modules, meeting the terminal's "zero-carbon" emission requirements while also serving to shave grid peaks and expand capacity. Upon project completion, equipment energy consumption and maintenance costs will be reduced, operational stability and efficiency will be improved, and the terminal's energy conservation, emission reduction, and overall operational performance will be enhanced.
