The tests verified the operation of the weighing system, cargo flow, and automated truck entry and exit processes, serving as a preparatory step before the facility becomes fully operational.
The tests were carried out at the newly built control center within the port area. The project is part of an investment plan totaling nearly $10 million by the ANP, aimed at reducing logistics processing time, improving operational efficiency at the North Entrance, and driving the Port of Montevideo's transition toward a smart port model.
The new infrastructure will permanently operate 16 scales, with 8 designated for truck entry weighing and 8 for exit weighing, in addition to a dedicated lane for oversized cargo transport.
The ANP stated that the system will automatically collect vehicle information and exchange data with institutions such as the National Customs Directorate (DNA) to determine the route of each truck within the port area, thereby optimizing regulatory processes and reducing vehicle waiting times at the port.
