en.Wedoany.com Reported - On July 30, under the guidance of the Department of Information and Communication Development of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Satellite-Terrestrial Integration (NTN) Working Group of the IMT-2030 (6G) Promotion Group (hereinafter referred to as the "NTN Working Group") was officially established in Beijing. The primary responsibilities of the NTN Working Group are to guide and support domestic organizations in the development of international technical standards, coordinate the overall layout of 6G satellite-terrestrial integrated networks, cultivate core 6G satellite communication technologies, and promote collaborative synergy among industry, academia, research, and application sectors. Its scope of work covers satellite air interface access technology, satellite terminal technology, satellite-terrestrial integrated network technology, and operation, maintenance, and application technologies.

The China Academy of Information and Communications Technology serves as the lead unit of the NTN Working Group, with China Satellite Network Group Co., Ltd., Shanghai Yuanxin Satellite Technology Co., Ltd., China Telecommunications Corporation, China Mobile Communications Group Co., Ltd., and China United Network Communications Group Co., Ltd. serving as deputy lead units.
At the inaugural meeting, representatives from the lead and deputy lead units delivered exchange speeches on topics including 6G satellite-terrestrial integration development trends, key technologies and standards research, test and verification, and industrial collaboration. Attendees unanimously agreed that satellite-terrestrial integration is a vital direction for expanding 6G network coverage and enhancing ubiquitous connectivity capabilities. In light of the accelerating convergence of satellite communication and terrestrial mobile communication, further efforts should be made to strengthen top-level design and cross-domain coordination, pool the strengths of all parties across the industrial chain, and coordinate the advancement of technology research, standards alignment, test and verification, and the translation of results into practical applications.
Looking ahead, the Working Group will focus its efforts on three areas: standards and key technology research, test and verification capability building, and industrial collaboration. First, it will strengthen research on key satellite-terrestrial integration technologies, closely track the evolution trends of 5G-A and 6G NTN technologies and standards, and deepen domestic technical exchanges and consensus building. Second, it will enhance test and verification capability building, continuously improve relevant testing and verification systems, elevate capabilities in technology assessment, product verification, and results commercialization services, support industrial innovation and development, and underpin the implementation of major tasks and key projects. Third, it will strengthen industrial chain collaboration, conduct industrialization specification research on key segments of satellite-terrestrial integration, promote deep integration of the satellite and terrestrial industries, and facilitate demand alignment and collaborative innovation between upstream and downstream sectors. The NTN Working Group will fully leverage the platform role of the IMT-2030 (6G) Promotion Group, continuously consolidate industrial consensus, deepen collaborative innovation across industry, academia, research, and application, and provide robust support for China's 6G satellite-terrestrial integration technology research, standards system development, and high-quality industrial growth.
