Colombia Signs 18 Mining Concession Contracts Covering 14 Municipalities

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On August 6, the National Mining Agency of Colombia signed 18 mining concession contracts, covering 14 municipalities across 8 departments: Antioquia, Bolívar, Caquetá, Chocó, Cundinamarca, Meta, Norte de Santander, and Tolima. The contracts were converted from mining concession applications that had completed the review process.

These mining rights involve minerals such as gold, silver, copper, platinum, coal, as well as construction materials, sand and gravel, backfill materials, quartz, and limestone, covering metallic minerals, energy minerals, and construction aggregates. The contracts include the exploration and extraction of the relevant resources, but the 18 contracts correspond to independent development plans in different regions, not a single mining project.

Prior to the signing of the contracts, all related projects had completed regional social communication and public mining hearing procedures. During the hearings, local communities were informed of the project plans, engaged in dialogue with the applicants, and reached corresponding agreements. Following the signing of the contracts, each rights holder will proceed with subsequent mineral exploration and development work in accordance with the approved scope and compliance requirements.
