en.Wedoany.com Reported - On August 6, Omineca Mining and Metals of Canada announced results from the 2025 winter drilling program at the Wingdam gold exploration project, reporting the discovery of a rock-hosted gold mineralization zone. Hole WD25-41 intersected 1.07 meters grading 4.84 g/t gold at depths of 158.98 to 160.05 meters underground; Hole WD25-42 intersected 2 meters grading 1.25 g/t gold at depths of 345 to 347 meters.
These results come from six NQ-size diamond drill holes totaling 3,091.9 meters, from which 1,978 core samples and 179 quality control samples were collected. The two main mineralized intercepts are located approximately 500 meters west of the underground placer gold operation and at elevations below the existing underground workings, with the higher-grade mineralization distributed near amygdaloidal basalt and quartz-calcite veins, accompanied by minor pyrite.Omineca Mining and Metals
This drilling campaign followed up on the 2024 exploration results, tracing mineralization at depth and along strike. Previously, Hole WD24-37 intersected 15.1 meters grading 0.227 g/t gold, including 2 meters grading 0.87 g/t gold. Hole WD25-41 continued testing along the dip of this mineralized zone, yielding the highest-grade rock-hosted gold drilling result to date at the Wingdam project; Hole WD25-42 tested a magnetic anomaly near the Eureka thrust fault.
The Wingdam project holds approximately 613 square kilometers of mineral claims and over 15 kilometers of placer gold claims, with underground paleochannel placer gold recovery operations advancing in parallel with rock-hosted gold exploration. In 2012, the project recovered 173.4 ounces of placer gold from a bulk sample taken from a 2.4-meter-wide, 2.4-meter-high, and 23.5-meter-long crosscut. Omineca's next phase will focus on infill exploration around the newly discovered mineralized zone and the Eureka thrust fault; the true thickness of the mineralization and resource scale have not yet been determined.
