en.Wedoany.com Reported - Recently, PPG held a groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion project of its automotive coatings manufacturing facility in Delaware, Ohio, USA. With a total investment exceeding $280 million, the project will add a new advanced manufacturing facility of approximately 100,000 square feet (about 9,290 square meters) at the existing site, with construction scheduled for completion by the end of 2027 and operations commencing in 2028.

The new facility will produce coating products for automotive original equipment manufacturers and automotive parts suppliers, increasing manufacturing capacity for products such as waterborne basecoats, primers, and clearcoats. The production system will incorporate automated equipment, digital manufacturing technologies, real-time quality monitoring systems, and energy-efficient processes to enhance production efficiency, product consistency, and order response capabilities.

The expansion project is expected to add 100 full-time positions. PPG currently employs approximately 450 people at the Delaware site, and upon project completion, the workforce is expected to grow to approximately 550 employees.

PPG stated that this investment will strengthen the company's coating supply capabilities for the North American automotive manufacturing market and support the production of high-performance and sustainable automotive coating products. The Delaware plant expansion investment has been included in the company's previously announced capital expenditure plan.

PPG is headquartered in Pittsburgh, USA, with business operations covering coatings, paints, and specialty materials. The Delaware site has long been engaged in automotive coatings production. This project is an expansion carried out within the existing manufacturing base, not the construction of a new standalone plant.
