en.Wedoany.com Reported - On August 11, Danish energy technology company Topsoe signed an agreement with First Ammonia to provide dynamic ammonia synthesis technology for its green ammonia project in Victoria, Texas, USA. The project is scheduled to reach financial close in late 2026 and commence commercial operations in 2029.

Located at the Port of Victoria, the project will use renewable electricity to produce green hydrogen through water electrolysis, which will then be converted into green ammonia. The products will target both the U.S. and international markets for use in fertilizers, shipping fuels, and other industrial applications. First Ammonia previously disclosed that the first phase of the project will have an electrolysis capacity of 200 megawatts, with the overall site master plan including three 100-megawatt production units.
Topsoe's dynamic ammonia synthesis technology enables the synthesis unit to ramp up from 10% load to full capacity within 30 minutes, and to reduce load at a similar rate, allowing green ammonia production to adapt to fluctuations in renewable energy output from wind and solar while maintaining stable operation of the synthesis system.
This agreement covers the synthesis segment converting green hydrogen into green ammonia. First Ammonia will separately select an electrolyzer supplier, and Topsoe will no longer supply SOEC electrolyzers for this project.
First Ammonia has selected Worley to undertake the front-end engineering design for the project and has established a project partnership with Cox Group USA, a Spanish energy and water company. Once completed, the green ammonia can be transported via the Victoria Barge Canal to the U.S. coastal waterway system and then to nearby deep-water ports.
