The Hassi Messaoud Refinery Project is located in the town of Hassi Messaoud, Ouargla Province, Algeria, at the heart of Algeria's core oil and gas production area. It is led by Sonatrach, Algeria's national oil company, with a consortium of Spain's TR Engineering and Sinopec Guangzhou Engineering undertaking the EPC general contracting, while Shaanxi Huajian is responsible for the installation of core units. With a designed annual processing capacity of approximately 5 million tons, the project is a significant energy initiative for Algeria to enhance its refining capacity and improve its petroleum industry chain.

The main scope of work undertaken by Shaanxi Huajian covers the PK4 package continuous catalytic reforming unit and its associated utility systems in the project's core process area, with the continuous catalytic reforming unit designed to process up to 1.35 million tons per year.
