French bag brand Hervé Chapelier officially enters China
en.Wedoany.com Reported - French bag brand Hervé Chapelier announced on August 17 its official entry into the Chinese market. Coinciding with the brand's 50th anniversary, this new chapter marks a significant milestone in its international expansion, and signals the first deep engagement between its design language—rooted in the French coast—and Chinese consumers.
The design inspiration of Hervé Chapelier traces back to Biarritz in southwestern France, where founder Mr. Hervé Chapelier was born. Growing up in this city on the French Basque coast, he was immersed in the Atlantic Ocean and the local surfing culture from a young age. For him, Biarritz is not just a city; it is the origin of the brand's understanding of life and design—the coastal light, bold and natural colors, and a free-spirited sense of ease together form the essential backdrop of his creations.
These coastal sensibilities gradually crystallized during his later journeys across the Atlantic, ultimately taking shape in tangible works. In 1976, Mr. Hervé Chapelier returned to France and sold his first travel bags in Saint-Tropez. Vivid orange, red, pink, yellow, and purple, along with webbing handles inspired by the automotive industry, set these pieces apart at the time. In the 1980s, the brand successively launched colorful backpacks and French boat-style tote bags. Simple structures, lightweight materials, and a rich palette have since become the design language that endures to this day.
