Vero Fiber Connects Over 1,600 Households to Fiber Service in Ukiah, USA
en.Wedoany.com Reported - Vero Fiber, in partnership with the City of Ukiah, California, has reached a significant milestone in the "Ukiah Gigabit Fiber Project," with more than 1,600 homes and businesses now connected and ready to activate fiber internet service. The project received a $5.7 million grant from the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) Federal Funding Account Last Mile-Grant, with the overall plan to provide ultra-high-speed fiber internet access to 3,000 households, businesses, schools, and community facilities throughout Ukiah.

The fiber infrastructure for the first phase of the project is owned by the City of Ukiah, with Vero Fiber operating it under a long-term public-private partnership. This collaboration model aims to expand broadband access coverage in a sustainable manner. The newly activated area is located on S State Street between E Gobbi Street and Talmage Road, where local residents and businesses can now access symmetrical speeds of up to 5.0 gigabits per second to support remote work, streaming, and access to essential services.
Since Vero Fiber launched operations in Humboldt County and Mendocino County in 2024, it has hired 28 local employees across roles in network design, construction, sales, marketing, field operations, and customer support. The company has connected with local schools, businesses, and nonprofit organizations through events and outreach efforts, and has donated over $20,000 cumulatively to communities across California, including Ukiah, Arcata, and Eureka.
The project is progressing in phases, with additional communities within Ukiah city limits scheduled to go live by December 2026. Engineering for Ukiah Phase 2 has already begun, with more information expected to be announced later this year. Vero Fiber offers services to homes, businesses, essential service facilities, healthcare facilities, and schools with no hidden fees or price increases, and provides discounts to emergency responders, healthcare workers, military personnel, educators, police officers, and firefighters through its "Heroes program." Residents and businesses can check service availability online, sign up for updates, and review pricing by visiting www.verofiber.com/location/ukiah or calling (970) 230-8376.
Evan Biagi, a representative of Vero, stated that the project has relied on the partnership between the City of Ukiah and Vero from the very beginning, and that the collaboration, trust, and dedication of both teams made it possible to reach this milestone quickly. Ukiah Mayor Susan Sher stated that the project is an investment in digital equity, economic opportunity, and Ukiah's future, and expressed gratitude on behalf of the City Council to the CPUC, Vero Fiber Networks, city staff, and all community partners.
