BASF to Raise Neopentyl Glycol Prices by $221/Ton in the US and Canada on September 1

en.Wedoany.com Reported - BASF has announced a price increase for neopentyl glycol in the United States and Canadian markets, with a hike of $0.10 per pound, equivalent to $221 per ton. This adjustment covers all grades and packaging specifications of NEOL brand neopentyl glycol and will take effect on September 1, 2026, with existing contracts executed according to agreed terms.

Neopentyl glycol is a polyol-type organic chemical intermediate primarily used in the production of polyester resins and alkyd resins, with downstream applications spanning industrial coatings, plastics, lubricants, plasticizers, and pharmaceutical manufacturing. Powder coatings are one of its major application areas, with products used for surface finishing of building components, household appliances, and more.

BASF's announcement for the North American market did not separately specify the reason for this price adjustment. The day prior, the company had adjusted prices for polyol products in the European market, with neopentyl glycol rising by €250 per ton and 1,6-hexanediol by €300 per ton, effective immediately on August 12 or according to contract terms.

The price adjustment in the European market is attributed to global supply-demand changes and rising raw material costs. In February 2026, BASF had also raised neopentyl glycol prices in the United States and Canada by $0.07 per pound, equivalent to $155 per ton, effective from March 12.
