Ventus completes construction of 66 MWp Solarium solar plant in Guatemala
en.Wedoany.com Reported - Ventus has completed construction of the Solarium solar power plant in Guatemala, located in the municipality of Agua Blanca, Jutiapa department, with an installed capacity of 66 MWp. As the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor for the plant, Ventus stated that the final photovoltaic module of the more than 102,000 panels has been installed.

Solarium is part of projects developed by INVESA, comprising two plants: Elgua (13.04 MWp) and Mersa (52.98 MWp). For Ventus, this plant represents both its first solar project completed in Guatemala and its first comprehensive EPC contract in the country.
Elgua, the first of the two plants to be completed, was energized and connected to the national grid in June. The plant is equipped with 184 solar tracking structures, more than 20,000 photovoltaic modules, and two substations, with grid connection carried out via the Mersa substation and a 34.5 kV transmission line.
This completion announcement covers the construction phase of the entire project. It should be noted that the Mersa plant (52.98 MWp), which started construction later, was still under construction in June. Ventus did not provide a timeline in its announcement for when all 66 MWp would be energized or reach commercial operation.
At the peak of construction, the on-site workforce approached nearly 500 people, a figure recorded during the Elgua construction phase and the early stages of Mersa's commencement. According to information provided by Ventus at the time, approximately 200 workers came from areas directly affected by the project, and 39 women were part of the construction team.
The completion of Solarium is one of the steps in Ventus's expansion into the Central American market. In April of this year, the company's Communications and Institutional Relations Manager, Luis Olivera, told pv magazine that Ventus was advancing construction projects in Guatemala, Costa Rica, and Ecuador. During the same period, Ventus announced that it had completed more than 2,700 MW in Latin America, of which 1,150 MW were solar plants.
