Samsung Moves EHS Heat Pump Boiler Production Line from Overseas Back to South Korea, with Annual Capacity Exceeding 100,000 Units
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On August 24, Samsung Electronics announced that it has relocated its EHS heat pump boiler production line, previously operated overseas, to South Korea, establishing a 2,132-square-meter EHS heat pump boiler production line at the second plant of its Gwangju complex in Gwangju Metropolitan City, South Jeolla Province, with trial production commencing on the 19th of this month. Among all heat pump manufacturers participating in South Korea's heating electrification projects, Samsung Electronics is the first to move its overseas production base back to the country.

The new production line has an annual capacity of over 100,000 EHS heat pump boilers, with all products to be supplied exclusively to the domestic South Korean market. Samsung Electronics plans to enter full-scale mass production by the end of September after completing verification of process and equipment stability and conducting a comprehensive assessment of finished product performance and quality. In addition to complete unit production, the company also plans to gradually increase the localization ratio of core component manufacturing and production processes, expand the participation of domestic partners, and drive the local economy of Gwangju. The Gwangju plant has long been a key base for Samsung Electronics' production of premium refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, and other home appliances, with mature manufacturing technology and quality management expertise already established.
EHS heat pump boilers utilize heat from the air and electricity to provide energy for indoor heating and domestic hot water. At a 35°C outlet water temperature, the product can generate nearly five times the thermal energy of the electricity consumed, achieving a seasonal coefficient of performance (SCOP) of 4.9. Compared to traditional boilers that burn fossil fuels, it offers higher efficiency and lower carbon emissions, and when combined with renewable energy sources such as home solar power, it can further reduce energy costs.
Samsung Electronics has already participated in this year's Jeju Island heating electrification promotion project and completed supply, and will also participate in the second round of the promotion project targeting 1,418 households in the second half of the year. Meanwhile, the company is verifying the product's heating, hot water performance, and energy efficiency in real residential environments in Yangpyeong, Chungju, Namhae, and other locations. Additionally, at Samsung C&T's residential research institutes in Jeju Island and Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, the company is conducting pilot testing of the "EHS All-in-One" integrated solution capable of providing cooling, heating, and hot water supply.
Lim Sung-taek, Vice President of Samsung Electronics' DA Division, stated that by establishing a domestic production system for heat pump products, the company will more proactively respond to the heating electrification trend and accelerate the expansion of its heat pump business; at the same time, it will combine heat pump technology accumulated in the global market with South Korea's local manufacturing and service competitiveness to continuously introduce solutions tailored to the Korean residential environment.
