Three contractors awarded pre-construction services contracts for UK Department for Education school projects worth up to £89 million

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On 24 August, three contractors — Tilbury Douglas, McLaren Construction, and Willmott Dixon — were awarded pre-construction deals for three school projects under the UK Department for Education (DfE) construction framework, tasked with advancing the early supplier involvement stage to prepare for the subsequent final design and construction contracts. The estimated total value of the three projects is up to £89 million.

Tilbury Douglas secured the largest of the projects, Bishop Walsh Catholic School in Sutton Coldfield, with a contract valued at up to £50 million, and the school is scheduled to open in 2031. McLaren Construction secured the St James Daisy Hill Church of England Primary School project in Bolton, valued at £20 million. Willmott Dixon secured the Merrylands Primary School project in Basildon, valued at £19 million; the primary school and nursery is planned to accommodate 420 pupils and will support the Dry Street residential development in Nethermayne, with both primary schools scheduled to open in spring 2030.

All three contractors were appointed through the DfE's construction framework, and the current phase of work will be completed before the final design and construction contracts are confirmed. The £89 million figure is a broad estimate based on the early stage by the DfE, with the actual contract values to be determined once the design proposals are finalised.
