GX Group's Advanced Photonics Facility in India Approved, Production Set to Begin in December

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On August 23, broadband technology company GX Group received first-stage approval from the Indian government and plans to commence manufacturing operations at its advanced photonics facility in December 2026.

The first phase of the facility has been approved to produce optical transceivers SFP (Small Form-factor Pluggable modules), which are used to manage the conversion between electrical and optical signals. GX Group plans an initial investment of INR 5 billion (approximately RMB 420 million) in the advanced photonics facility, of which INR 1 billion has been approved under the Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS) for the first phase.

GX Quantum Photonics, a subsidiary of GX Group, will be responsible for developing and manufacturing advanced optical components and sub-components, including TOSA (Transmitter Optical Sub-Assembly), ROSA (Receiver Optical Sub-Assembly), and SFP transceivers. TOSA converts electrical signals into optical signals, while ROSA converts optical signals back into electrical signals, enabling high-speed data transmission. These components are critical to high-speed fiber-optic data networks.

GX Group CEO and founder Paritosh Prajapati stated that commencing manufacturing in December is a significant step for the company in building advanced photonics capabilities in India. The facility is expected to create approximately 200 highly skilled jobs. Currently, related components are primarily imported or assembled domestically, and telecom operators and AI data centers use these devices for the conversion and transmission of large volumes of data. The company plans to gradually build capabilities in photonics packaging and photonic chip design, increasing local value addition and reducing dependence on imported optical components.
