China Guizhou Expressway Group's Guiyang Ring Expressway 2 MW Distributed Photovoltaic Project Connected to Grid and Put into Operation
en.Wedoany.com Reported - The distributed photovoltaic project on the Guiyang Ring Expressway, independently invested in, constructed, and operated by Guiyang Chengfa Group under China Guizhou Expressway Group, recently achieved full-point grid-connected trial operation and smoothly transitioned into stable commercial operation. This marks another implemented project in the "transportation-energy integration" field by Guizhou Expressway Group, following distributed photovoltaic pilot projects such as the Qinglong Service Area.

The project fully utilizes existing site resources along the Guiyang Ring Expressway, with coordinated deployment across 2 pairs of service areas, 1 rest area, 10 toll stations, 7 tunnels, and 1 emergency management center site, establishing a total of 21 photovoltaic power generation points with a combined installed capacity of 2 MW. Following its commissioning, the project provides a practical case for upgrading traditional expressways toward a composite function of "traffic passage + energy supply."
Construction of the project commenced in April this year. To address challenges such as the long route span, scattered construction sites, and the difficulty of coordinating simultaneous grid connections at multiple points, Guiyang Chengfa Group established a dedicated task force to advance key processes including support frame installation, module laying, and cable deployment, adopting a cross-operational construction model by point, area, and time period to minimize the impact of construction on expressway traffic. During the grid-connection commissioning phase, the project followed the technical standards of "observable, measurable, adjustable, and controllable," verifying equipment operating parameters and grid-connected protection devices item by item to ensure all indicators met compliance requirements.

Currently, all 21 power generation points of the project have been connected to the grid and are generating electricity, with stable data reading, transmission, and monitoring of equipment operations. As of August 18, the project's cumulative power generation reached 285,900 kWh, with all clean green electricity produced being fully self-consumed, effectively reducing energy consumption in road network operations, and actual operational benefits exceeding expectations.
Guiyang Chengfa Group stated that in the next step, it will continue to promote the green and low-carbon transformation of the transportation sector around the green electricity layout along the expressway, providing a replicable and scalable model for the green renovation of expressway infrastructure and the clean utilization of idle spaces.
