India's Dhaksha Inaugurates Drone Manufacturing Facility in Kanchipuram
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On August 24, Dhaksha Unmanned Systems inaugurated a new drone manufacturing facility in Aymicheri, Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, India. The facility, catering to agricultural, defense, and enterprise drone operations, integrates R&D and production capabilities to undertake larger-scale and more technologically complex unmanned aerial vehicle projects. Dhaksha is a subsidiary of Coromandel International.
The new facility features a dedicated production line for defense drones, with applications covering surveillance and logistics transportation, among others. Dhaksha is also expanding its drone component procurement and service systems, including a network of service centers, and has brought in drone technology partners to participate in related product and technology development at the facility. The company has not yet disclosed the facility's floor area, project investment amount, or designed annual production capacity.
On the day of the facility's inauguration, Dhaksha simultaneously launched two agricultural drones: the DH Agrigator E10 Prime and the DH Agrigator E10 Eco. Both products utilize indigenous Indian components, with the E10 Prime corresponding to India's Namo Drone Didi agricultural drone scheme, and the E10 Eco targeting small and marginal farmers as well as rural drone service operators.
Founded in 2019 and headquartered in Chennai, Dhaksha's products cover agriculture, defense, surveillance, logistics, and enterprise applications. Coromandel International acquired a majority stake in Dhaksha in 2023, and in 2024 invested an additional INR 1.5 billion, increasing its shareholding to 58% through a share issuance; as of the end of March 2026, its wholly-owned subsidiary Coromandel Technology holds approximately 58.01% of Dhaksha's equity.
Previously, Dhaksha had already established drone production facilities in Sholavaram, Chennai. In Coromandel's FY2024 earnings communication document, it was disclosed that the facility has an agricultural drone production capacity of approximately 400 units per month, and a logistics and defense drone capacity of approximately 50 units per month. During the same period, the INR 1.5 billion raised through new equity financing was utilized for drone R&D, execution of large orders, and working capital.
In 2023, Dhaksha was included in the list of companies selected under India's Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for drones and drone components, and obtained type certification from India's civil aviation regulator for multiple drones used in agricultural and surveillance applications.
