Chile's Green Pack Cherry Processing Capacity Reaches 250 Tons Per Day, Offering Integrated Services

As competition intensifies in Chile's agricultural processing industry, exporters' demands for sorting precision and cold chain timeliness have increased. Green Pack has made sustained investments in sorting and pre-cooling equipment to meet these requirements.

The facility houses 26 cherry processing lines, with the sorting stage equipped with the Cherry Vision 3.5 AI optical sorter, which can evaluate parameters such as fruit quality, firmness, color, and defects in real time. General Manager Patricio Espinoza stated that the facility has deployed the 2026 version of the AI defect sorter for cherry processing.

In the pre-cooling stage, Green Pack's tunnels, through installed power and airflow design, control cherry pre-cooling time to 4 to 4.5 hours and table grapes to 7 hours, whereas the typical pre-cooling process in Chile's industry requires 10 to 14 hours. With reduced cooling time, fruit dehydration decreases, the condition of table grape stems is preserved, and losses in the products' commercial value are minimized.

The facility currently has a cherry processing capacity of 250 tons per day, with a seasonal throughput of 7 to 10 million kilograms, and a pre-cooling capacity of up to 220 pallets per day. Espinoza added that the pre-cooling system's power and airflow design enables cherry cooling times of approximately one-third of what is typically required in the industry.

Changes in the regulatory environment and phytosanitary restrictions—such as those related to fruit fly protocols—have led many exporters to readjust their processing logistics. Green Pack accommodates this demand through its sorting installed capacity, logistics location adjacent to the highway, and operational flexibility. Director Pedro Pablo Budinich stated that the company aims to strengthen its packaging operations and provide services to other exporters, positioning itself as an alternative for businesses affected by restrictions or regulatory changes when adjusting their logistics.

Green Pack's management team participates directly in the integration of the production and export chain through Green Agro, giving it direct insight into the needs and timelines of growers and exporters. Chilean fruit export companies such as Exportadora Ranco, Subsole, Chilfresh, and Gesex have entrusted their processing operations and export volumes to Green Pack.
