Russia's LNG Output Up 14% and Natural Gas Extraction Up 1% in July 2026

en.Wedoany.com Reported - Russia's natural gas extraction in July 2026 amounted to 47.8 billion cubic meters, an increase of 1% compared to the same period in 2025. According to data from the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat), natural gas extraction reached 39.6 billion cubic meters, up 2% year-on-year, while associated petroleum gas production totaled 8.2 billion cubic meters, down 2% year-on-year.

From January to July this year, Russia cumulatively extracted 396.7 billion cubic meters of natural gas, an increase of 13.8 billion cubic meters compared to the same period last year, representing a growth of 4%. According to calculations by Interfax based on statistical data, actual extraction during this period has already exceeded the planned target set in the medium-term macroeconomic forecast by 5 billion cubic meters. The forecast document sets a full-year extraction target of 688.4 billion cubic meters for 2026.

Growth in the liquefied natural gas (LNG) sector was even more pronounced, with production primarily oriented toward exports. In July, Russia's LNG complex output reached 2.3 million tons, an increase of 14.2% compared to the same period in 2025. Cumulative production over the first seven months totaled 20.6 million tons, up 12% year-on-year.

Based on monthly LNG production statistics since 2022, the indicators for January to July 2026 represent the highest level in the past five years. This reflects enhanced liquefaction capacity at Arctic projects, with supply shifting toward the Asian market.

According to data from the General Administration of Customs of China, in the first seven months of 2026, China imported 4.226 million tons of LNG from Russia, an increase of 26.1% compared to the same period last year.
