en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Anhui Medallun energy storage project under the Safutech Group recently completed installation and commissioning and was officially connected to the grid for operation. The project is equipped with 42 energy storage cabinets, forming a 5.0MW/10.032MWh energy storage system that operates in coordination with the plant's 7.86MW distributed photovoltaic power station, establishing a low-carbon, cost-effective integrated energy system for solar cell production.

In terms of source-level carbon reduction, the rooftop photovoltaic system continuously generates clean electricity, which is prioritized for direct on-site consumption by the production lines, with surplus power fed into the grid for external sales, reducing purchased grid electricity from the source. However, PV generation depends on sunlight, producing more during the day and none at night, creating a natural mismatch between the output curve and the production line's electricity consumption pattern. The addition of energy storage solves the problem of "how to stably utilize green power once generated"—surplus electricity generated during the day is stored and released during peak pricing periods or when PV output is insufficient, ensuring clean power is truly utilized for production.

The energy storage system operates with automatic scheduling based on the time-of-use tariff mechanism, charging during nighttime off-peak hours and discharging during daytime peak hours, fully leveraging the peak-valley price differential to reduce electricity costs. In response to power surges caused by high-power equipment on the production lines, the energy storage system can rapidly smooth load spikes, reducing transformer demand-related charges. The system also provides emergency backup power capability, ensuring continuous operation of core production equipment during grid maintenance, load shedding, or other contingencies, thereby avoiding economic losses from production stoppages and material damage.

PV handles green power supply, while energy storage manages temporal regulation—through their coordinated operation, the plant has achieved an energy closed loop of "PV generates, storage regulates, production line consumes." As a photovoltaic cell manufacturer, the company integrates green energy into its own production processes, which is not only a practical action in pursuing green manufacturing but also provides a replicable energy-saving model for similar high-energy-consumption plants. Going forward, the company will leverage its intelligent energy platform to continuously optimize operational strategies, steadily advance green energy supporting infrastructure across its bases, and integrate green energy into the manufacturing process of every solar cell.
