Wedoany.com Report-Jun 22, HUBER+SUHNER has launched a new manufacturing facility in Pisary, Poland, dedicated to producing POLATIS® optical circuit switches (OCS) for AI and hyperscale data centers. The site aims to increase production capacity at least fivefold over the next two years to meet the growing demand for OCS solutions driven by the expansion of AI and cloud computing infrastructure.

The Pisary facility, spanning approximately 3,000 square meters, complements the fully operational Krzeszowice site nearby. It will enable HUBER+SUHNER to deliver POLATIS® OCS technology, which supports high-speed, low-latency optical connectivity essential for AI hyperscale operations. By maintaining data in the optical domain, these switches reduce power consumption and operational costs, enhancing energy efficiency in data center architectures.

Jürgen Walter, Chief Operating Officer of the Communication segment at HUBER+SUHNER, stated: “The opening of our new Pisary facility is a major milestone that aligns with our commitment to innovation and operational excellence in optical networking. Our POLATIS® OCS solutions deliver transparent, software-defined dynamic optical connectivity within energy-efficient hyperscale data centers to meet the low loss and latency demands of high-performance AI workloads.”

The rising need for OCS solutions is fueled by the global growth of hyperscale data centers, where thousands of graphical processor units (GPUs) are interconnected by optical fibers handling data at hundreds of gigabits per second. POLATIS® OCS enables on-demand reconfiguration of optical connections, routing high-speed traffic with minimal latency, critical for AI compute clusters.

Robert Smith, Managing Director of POLATIS at HUBER+SUHNER, said: “The Pisary site will enhance our supply of OCS solutions while reflecting our mission for sustainable operations. The facilities include a photovoltaic installation with a capacity of 150 kilowatt peak (kWp), a mechanical ventilation with heat recovery, and a biological waste treatment plant.” The site also features a building management system designed to minimize its carbon footprint, aligning with sustainable practices.

The new facility positions HUBER+SUHNER to support the evolving needs of hyperscale data centers, contributing to advancements in AI and cloud computing through efficient and sustainable optical networking solutions.
