en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 7, VA TECH WABAG secured an industrial wastewater treatment plant order awarded by Reliance Industries to build new wastewater treatment facilities for the Dhirubhai Ambani Green Energy Giga Complex in Jamnagar, Gujarat. WABAG classifies this contract under the "Medium" order category, corresponding to INR 1 billion to 2.5 billion per the company's disclosure standards, with a project execution period of 13 months. The contract covers design, engineering, equipment manufacturing, procurement, supply, installation, and commissioning.

The project will treat industrial wastewater generated during production processes at the Jamnagar green energy manufacturing complex. WABAG is responsible for configuring chemical treatment, biological treatment, and sludge treatment units, with the sludge system adopting a low-temperature drying process. The project uses the EPC implementation model, requiring WABAG to complete process design, supply of major equipment, on-site installation, and system commissioning, ultimately delivering an operational industrial wastewater treatment facility. The company has not yet disclosed the design treatment capacity, quantity of major equipment, or final contract amount.

The Dhirubhai Ambani Green Energy Giga Complex is located in Jamnagar, covering approximately 5,000 acres, with a planned manufacturing and operational building area of approximately 44 million square feet. Reliance is currently building photovoltaic, battery energy storage, electrolyzer, fuel cell, and power electronics manufacturing systems within the park. In fiscal year 2025–2026, the first 200 MWp of high-efficiency heterojunction photovoltaic modules have completed production, with related capacity ramping up toward 10 GWp; the battery gigafactory is planned to be commissioned in phases during fiscal year 2026–2027.

WABAG has previously implemented seawater desalination projects for Reliance in Jamnagar. The company's existing projects include a 2×1,100 m³/h seawater reverse osmosis system for supplying process water to Reliance's new energy business, with a contract value of INR 4.27 billion and a construction period of 21 months; earlier, WABAG also built a 24,000 m³/day seawater desalination facility at the same site. This new order corresponds to the industrial wastewater treatment segment and belongs to a different water treatment system from the previous seawater desalination projects.

This contract is a repeat order awarded by Reliance to WABAG. In its Q2 fiscal year 2026–2027 investor materials, WABAG has listed the "Jamnagar industrial wastewater treatment plant repeat order" under new orders. The project contract period is 13 months, and the next phase will enter detailed design, equipment manufacturing, and procurement, followed by on-site installation and system commissioning.
