Construction Starts on China-Aided 10-Kilometer Road Rehabilitation Project in Kigali, Rwanda
en.Wedoany.com Reported - The groundbreaking ceremony for the China-aided 10-kilometer road rehabilitation project in Kigali, Rwanda, was held on September 8.
In his remarks, Rwanda's Minister of State for Infrastructure Bizimana said the project fully demonstrates the strong and enduring friendship between Rwanda and China. He noted that as Kigali continues to develop, the need for upgraded transportation is urgent, making the implementation of this project timely. Once completed, the project will significantly improve traffic flow, enhance road safety, and strengthen connectivity across Kigali, providing strong support for urban development and economic growth.
Chinese Ambassador to Rwanda Gao Wenqi said that once the road is completed, it will greatly reduce transportation costs, boost economic development, and improve the livelihoods of people along the route. This year marks the 55th anniversary of the establishment of China-Rwanda diplomatic relations. China will continue to uphold the principle of sincerity, real results, amity, and good faith, advance practical cooperation in various fields, and push bilateral relations to a higher level.
The China-aided 10-kilometer road rehabilitation project in Kigali is the latest assistance project implemented by the Chinese government in Rwanda. It is undertaken by Hunan Road & Bridge Construction Group Co., Ltd. The construction includes subgrade and pavement, bridges and culverts, lighting and drainage, and traffic safety facilities, and will build Rwanda's first urban overpass.
