en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 10, Indian dairy company Milky Mist Dairy Food Limited commissioned a new Skyr and Greek yogurt plant at its integrated production base in Perundurai, Tamil Nadu. The project involved an investment of approximately INR 400 million, adding a processing capacity of 150 tonnes/day and adopting ultrafiltration technology, with funding from the company's internal funds and IPO proceeds.

The new plant is intended to expand production capacity for high-protein fermented dairy products. Milky Mist previously had a Skyr and Greek yogurt production capacity of approximately 20 tonnes/day at this base, and the relevant capacity had been running at full load since production began in 2022. With the commissioning of the new facility, the production capacity for this category of products has increased substantially.

Perundurai is Milky Mist's core dairy production base. As of the end of March 2026, its comprehensive raw milk processing capacity was approximately 2.5 million liters/day, and its existing production system covers products including cheese, yogurt, curd, butter, UHT milk, and ice cream. The new plant is directly connected to the base's existing raw milk receiving, cold chain, and finished product distribution systems.

The project uses an ultrafiltration process to produce Skyr and Greek yogurt, increasing protein concentration and adjusting product texture through membrane separation. This process had previously been applied in Milky Mist's existing 20 tonnes/day production unit, and this project scales it up to a 150 tonnes/day scale.

Milky Mist's current raw milk supply system covers Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Maharashtra. The company supplies milk to the Perundurai base through automated milk collection points, chilling centers, and its own cold chain transportation system, providing raw material and cold chain support for the additional production capacity.
