Egypt's Na Trans Suez 100,000-ton phosphate fertilizer plant inaugurated, with planned expansion to 375,000 tons/year capacity

en.Wedoany.com Reported - Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly inaugurated the fertilizer and chemical plant of Na Trans Fertilizers and Chemical Industries in the Sokhna Integrated Industrial Zone of the Suez Canal Economic Zone. The existing project involves an investment of USD 10 million, covers an area of approximately 18,000 square meters, and has a designed annual capacity of 100,000 tons, mainly producing phosphate fertilizers and related chemical products.

The main products of the existing facility include powdered and granular single superphosphate fertilizer. The plant is located within the Sokhna Industrial Development Zone and currently provides approximately 140 direct jobs and 350 indirect jobs. This milestone represents the official inauguration of the existing Phase I facility and must not be combined with subsequent expansion plans to state that the capacity has already been built.

Na Trans has proposed the next-phase expansion plan, which would add approximately 28,000 square meters of industrial land and involve an estimated additional investment of USD 45 million. Upon completion of the expansion, the annual phosphate fertilizer capacity is planned to increase to 375,000 tons, along with an additional 120,000 tons/year of sulfuric acid production capacity. Accordingly, the subsequent project works include not only the expansion of the existing phosphate fertilizer facility but also the addition of an upstream sulfuric acid production unit.

According to the disclosed figures, the difference between the existing 100,000 tons/year capacity and the planned 375,000 tons/year capacity is 275,000 tons/year; the 120,000 tons/year sulfuric acid unit is part of the planned expansion and cannot currently be described as an operational facility. The USD 45 million likewise corresponds to the future expansion investment plan and is not included in the USD 10 million investment for the Phase I facility that has already been commissioned.
