Wedoany.com Report-Jun 28, Statnett, a Norwegian state-owned enterprise, has awarded a Nkr1.3bn ($130.6m) contract to Scandinavian contractor Veidekke for the design and construction of three substations in Vestland’s Øygarden, Vik, and Modalen municipalities.

The entire substation construction phase is expected to conclude in 2028.

Veidekke will handle foundational work, access roads, rock excavation, transformer shafts, and the construction of technical buildings above and below ground. The project supports Norway’s electrification goals and sustainable energy transition by upgrading the grid with new 420kV substations, replacing older infrastructure between Sogndal and Sauda via Kollsnes to enhance grid reliability and capacity.

Statnett is managing procurement in collaboration with energy distributor BKK and renewable energy firm Eviny Fornybar. Construction will begin in October 2025 in Øygarden, followed by Vik and Modalen, with completion expected in 2028. Installation and testing will continue until the project’s handover in autumn 2030.

This follows Veidekke’s recent contracts, including a Nkr400m project for the Kongshaugen treatment plant in Norway and work for a Swedish Fortifications Agency facility.
