All 64 turbines installed at Germany's 960 MW He Dreiht offshore wind farm

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 17, EnBW, Allianz, AIP Management and Norges Bank Investment Management held a inauguration event for the He Dreiht offshore wind project in Germany. All 64 Vestas V236-15.0 MW turbines at the project have been completed, with a total installed capacity of 960 MW. Some units are already delivering power to the German grid, while the remaining units will be connected, tested and commissioned one by one, with full technical commissioning expected to be completed in the coming months.

He Dreiht is located in the German North Sea, approximately 85 kilometers northwest of the island of Borkum and approximately 110 kilometers west of Helgoland. The project is equipped with 64 Vestas V236-15.0 MW turbines, each with a capacity of 15 MW, a hub height of 142 meters and a rotor diameter of 236 meters. The offshore foundations use monopile structures, and the water depth at the site is approximately 37.7–40.6 meters.

Offshore construction at the project began in May 2024, and at peak more than 500 personnel and over 60 vessels participated in construction. The 64 monopile foundations were manufactured in Germany, and wind turbine components were transported and installed via ports including Esbjerg in Denmark and Eemshaven in the Netherlands. TenneT is responsible for grid connection of the project, and electricity is transmitted to the German onshore grid via an offshore platform and two submarine cables.

The total investment in He Dreiht is approximately 2.4 billion euros. EnBW holds a 50.1% interest through the project company, while the remaining 49.9% is held by a consortium consisting of Allianz entities represented by Allianz Global Investors, AIP Management and Norges Bank Investment Management. The project obtained development rights through Germany's offshore wind auction in 2017 and does not receive state subsidies. Power generation revenue is mainly arranged through long-term power purchase agreements, and power purchase agreements have currently been signed with companies including Google, Deutsche Telekom's PASM, Fraport, Bosch, Salzgitter, Deutsche Bahn and DHL Group.
